The challenge
Years of research articles lived on a legacy platform with its own database structure. The migration had to preserve every article, author and URL while giving the editorial team modern WordPress tooling and refreshed templates.
The approach
Map the legacy data
The old database was mapped field by field to WordPress posts, taxonomies and meta before a single record moved.
Scripted, repeatable migration
Custom migration scripts ran the import end-to-end on staging until the diff was clean - then once against production with redirects in place.
Templates for editors
Key post templates were redesigned with custom code so the team could publish rich research pages without developer help.
